Author: D Kitcher I've just seen an horrific x-ray of an American 8 yr old who allegedly thought that the metal parts of a magnetix set were sweets. I had no such problems with my 4 yr old daughter. Under my supervision, she played in many interesting and surprising ways (for example playing doctors and nurses with squares and triangles with one ball on each as their heads). She clearly liked the obvious metallic shinyness and heaviness of the balls, and their obvious magnetism. Doing magnetix on a common tinplate tray added a magnetic baseplate with a rim, such that all parts were contained and easy to clear up completely when finished. Only a person who has never played with metal could get mixed up like that poor American. Lets' not allow a one off unfortunate to prohibit everyone else from doing good things (which are safer than crossing the road) with this great toy.
